Understanding Credits and How They Work
✓ Quick Answer
Credits are the currency you use to access lead data. Each new lead you view or export costs 1 credit. Previously exported leads are free to access again. On all plans, all your credits live in one combined balance - unused credits roll over each month, purchased credits go into the same balance, and nothing expires month to month while you keep your plan.
Understanding Credits in SMB Sales Boost
Credits are how you access lead data in SMB Sales Boost. Here is everything you need to know about how credits work.
How Credits Work
- 1 credit = 1 new lead - Each time you view or export a lead for the first time, it costs 1 credit
- Re-exports are free - Once you have used a credit on a lead, you can re-export or re-view that lead at no additional cost
- Credits apply to both Dashboard and API - Whether you browse leads on the Dashboard or fetch them via the API/MCP, the same credit system applies
Your Credit Balance
Plan Credits - Included with your subscription. On all plans, all of your credits live in one combined balance: each billing cycle your plan's credits are added to that balance, unused credits roll over automatically, and any credits you purchase go into the same balance - nothing expires month to month while you keep your plan:
| Plan | Price | Monthly Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $49/mo | 500 |
| Growth | $149/mo | 2,000 |
| Scale | $499/mo | 10,000 |
| Platinum | $1,999/mo | 100,000 |
| Enterprise | $4,999/mo | 250,000 |
Purchased Credits - Bought separately at your plan's overage rate. On all plans, purchased credits go straight into your combined balance and roll over month to month just like your plan credits.
Checking Your Balance
- On the Dashboard - Your credit balance is displayed in your account area
- Via API - Use GET /api/v1/me - the totalCreditsRemaining field is your single combined balance
- Via MCP - Ask Claude "How many credits do I have left?"
Controlling Credit Usage
- maxCredits parameter - Set a cap on credits per API query or export
- maxResults parameter - Limit total results to control credit spend
- Filter presets - Use saved filters to consistently search the same criteria without wasting credits on irrelevant leads
- Keyword filters - Narrow results before exporting to use credits efficiently
Purchasing More Credits
If you need more credits beyond your monthly allocation:
- One-time purchases - Buy additional credits from Account Settings > Billing tab or via the API
- Auto top-up - Configure automatic credit purchases when your credit balance falls below a threshold
- Overage budget - Set a per-cycle limit that lets usage continue past a zero balance, billed to your card once per day at your plan's overage rate
- Overage rates - Starter: 10 cents/credit, Growth: 7.5 cents, Scale: 5 cents, Platinum: 3 cents, Enterprise: 2 cents
Credit FAQ
Do unused monthly credits roll over? Yes - on all plans, all credits live in one combined balance, so unused credits roll over each billing cycle and never expire while you keep your plan. If you cancel your subscription, any remaining credit balance is forfeited when the subscription ends. If you downgrade your plan, your remaining balance expires when the downgrade takes effect at your next renewal.
Can I get a refund for unused credits? Credits are non-refundable. The first month money-back guarantee (Starter, Growth, and Scale plans only) covers your first subscription payment, not additional credit purchases.
Do I get charged per credit automatically? No, you only use credits when you actively search or export new leads. There are no surprise charges. Additional credit purchases, auto top-up, and the overage budget are separate, opt-in features. If you enable an overage budget, usage past a zero balance is billed to your card once per day at your plan's overage rate, up to the limit you set.
